I like "lazy as raccoons". And the gently smiling irony. I guess I could follow a politician like that. Just the small matter of absorbing all those verbs that start with prepositions, memorising a few stanzas of Rilke, regularising my bank account and remaining on my knees during the naturalisation process. But would Germany have me? I could hardly claim I was coming from a benign and well-organised democracy.
I could of course sing Mann und Weib und Weib und Mann, reichen an die Gottheit an, providing I could find a willing soprano who felt a certain tendresse towards Anglos. Otherwise it's a case of Faust's Seele musst in die Hölle gekommen.
