I'm only surprised that it took Putin this long to kill him.

Alexei Navalny was an incredibly brave man and his wife is his equal.

A deeply committed man, who stood by his beliefs, and a family who understood that.

Incredibly moving.

So glad she had the courage to do this. I've posted what others have said about him yesterday on Facebook. The bottom line was his own statement, "You’re not allowed to give up. If they decide to kill me, it means that we are incredibly strong.”

I wrestled with this hideous example of Putinism; was Navalny's death a lonely one, or was there some compensating sense of community? I hope to hell it was the latter though what little I know about him suggests he was fashioned from the toughest of fibres. Mocking his enemy up to very last moment. I do hope there are moments when scrofulous Vladimir has difficulty sleeping. Seeing that sardonic face between him and the pillow

Words I'm taking to heart from Alexei and affirmed by Yulia and so many others who have come before them:

“Listen, I’ve got something very obvious to tell you. You’re not allowed to give up. If they decide to kill me, it means that we are incredibly strong.”
