My father tells me don't look at it. There is nothing we can do.
We are speechless for a short  moment before he berates me about something or other and I can take a deep breath of anger.

It must be watched. We must never look away.

The rescued boy is just a little older than the boy who sang to me a few days ago. There is something we can do with our anger, although it takes a clear mind and heart to know what that might be. I keep listening to Martin Luther King, Jr.

"If I wish to compose or write or pray or preach well, I must be angry. Then all the blood in my veins is stirred, and my understanding is sharpened."

I grieve, too, for the boy in your father who believes there is nothing that he or we can do and counsels you not to look if it bothers you so much. I wonder where he learned that and was there no one to rescue him at some point in his life?

Anger is fine. If we're not angry were not human.

Dear God, he looks to be the same age as my grandson. Why isn't anyone hugging this sweet little boy? It is almost more than I can bear. But Robin is right.

I ache for this child's future. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Loss? Grief? Fear? Anger? Is there any point in praying. I don't know. I really don't. But bless his little heart. May it not be broken or hardened.

Yes. To all the thoughts written thus far. Yes. The white hats deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. The children deserve a life including the knowledge of flowers and butterflies.
