gardening as an instrument of patience

eremurus (foxtail lily) is the queen

fennel, we love fennel

fresia, a bit shy this year

the busy greenhouse

lilies getting ready

something South African

onions and carrots love each other

the spuds

the rambling rose

tomato blossoms . . .

. . .  turn into tomatoes

and the zucchini will do the same

Yes. Patience. I'm watching various buds on my porch. My golden day lilies began to open on June 10. Yesterday I noticed an unexpected bud on my flowering quince. Were you and R able to identify the mystery plant you posted recently? I showed your photos to several gardeners at one of our gardening shops. All were baffled.

I love your foxtail lily in the sunlight, and I recognize what we called ice plant (South Africa). It was synonymous with the ocean in the part of California where I grew up.

what a lovely garden. it's so hot here now, though we are currently having a few cooler less humid days, that it's hard to be out for long and with all that rain we had last week the mosquitoes are vicious. I may have to see if that foxtail will grow here. the something south african looks like ice plant.

The foxtail lily is indeed the queen, but even the veggie flowers are beautiful. Such nice composition in all these photos.

Your garden is absolutely beautiful. I love how richly green it all is, and the promise of tomatoes, zucchini, and fennel. Yum!

Beautiful. I don’t possess the patience to produce such beauty - but fortunately for me my wife does. I do produce a mean vegetable though, probably because you can eat them!

The mystety plant was the foxtail lily. We just had to wait a while for it to flower and then the penny dropped.

What a lovely garden. I've never looked close up at tomato flowers; they're beautiful. Our weather is behind yours but it's getting there and the garden is coming alive.

We planted foxtail lilies and they never came up! I think Dave concluded he planted the bulbs too deep. Beautiful plants and your potatoes are so LUSH!

A lovely garden indeed. I’ve settled in recent years for allowing some flower self-seeding. Enjoyed growing several varieties of lettuce with staggered plants maturation, tomatoes, strawberries but not the past few years — never got my drip watering system setup as I intended.
