civilization watershed moment - again

Indeed I live in the dark ages!
A guileless word is an absurdity. A smooth forehead betokens
A hard heart. He who laughs
Has not yet heard
The terrible tidings.

Ah, what an age it is
When to speak of trees is almost a crime
For it is a kind of silence about injustice!
And he who walks calmly across the street,
Is he not out of reach of his friends
In trouble?

Bertolt Brecht

The Russian leader has invaded Ukraine, to ‘denazify’ a country led by a man whose Jewish forebears died in the Holocaust.

It is insane and I my only hope is that it ends with Putin deposed and in jail. Zelensky and Ukrainians as a whole are a brave people. It's so good to see such support in Berlin.

This was supposed to be an easy takeover with Trump in Putin's hand. Trump did his part to weaken NATO and prevent a response from them and pulled us out of the Open Skies treaty and would not have done one thing to oppose the invasion and is even now supporting Putin calling him a genius and the invasion a smart move. Oh, but Trump did not get reelected and Putin decided to push on with it anyway. I don't know how this will end. Putin is between a rock and a hard place. He's not likely to go home with his tail between his legs but he didn't expect this resistance.

I have been avoiding the news. It's too heartbreaking and truly scary. What is the endgame here? Suddenly I'm worried about nuclear war again. These times we're living in blows my mind.
(I had to give up my old blog name robin.andrea13 because of a computer hack. This is the new me!)

Complete and utter insanity! The world feels insane in a way it never has before.

Interresting, that translation. In English a speculative question, in German a command.
