Everything is Going to be All Right

How should I not be glad to contemplate
the clouds clearing beyond the dormer window
and a high tide reflected on the ceiling?
There will be dying, there will be dying,
but there is no need to go into that.
The poems flow from the hand unbidden
and the hidden source is the watchful heart.
The sun rises in spite of everything
and the far cities are beautiful and bright.
I lie here in a riot of sunlight
watching the day break and the clouds flying.
Everything is going to be all right.

Derek Mahon, from Selected Poems

The place is mayhem. Gorgeous mayhem. People are arguing about who will be cooking food in my kitchen.  They are almost fighting about whose turn it should be because, my recipe is soo amazing etc. Elbows are involved. Also, we are plotting to make the world a better place.

The days are mostly sunny. The plumeria started to flower!

People, I am delighted with it all.

But you have no idea how unwell I am. Just made the requested list of symptoms for tomorrow's appointment with the immunologist.

your plumeria is gorgeous. wish I had one that color. mine are all pink with a couple of dark pink ones and then the white bridal bouquet plumerias. also wish I had people arguing over who would get to cook in my kitchen.

Love the poem and love that you have such wonderful company.

Especially love the photo of the plumeria.

I am sorry, my friend, at your symptoms. I am amazed at how you still are able to enjoy the group despite the toll they take.

A perfect poem for what you describe, what you are feeling. How I wish you were not unwell. How I wish you could just glory in the company, in the plumeria without that.

It makes me really happy to think of you surrounded with loving mayhem. I am sorry to hear you are feeling badly right now, though.

Along with knowing about your delight, now we know something more of how unwell you are feeling. Sending love. Gracias a la vida. The garden you share with R is a treasure. There is much to be said for kitchen table wisdom. Thank you for sharing Derek Mahon's poem.

I love this poem so much. I think I need to read it everyday. Your happiness floats all the way across the seas, plains, mountains... to here... I feel it. Be well, dear Sabine.

I am sorry that you are ill and hope that by this writing you are feeling better. It's good to know that your home is busy, though, and that that cheers you.
